I hand wrote Poe on the top of the lid with a black Sharpie and stamped Nevermore and the portion of The Raven on the side of the lid with black StazOn.  The crosshatch stamp design was stamped on the glass bottle with StazOn too.  The dominoes were adhered to the bottle with Judikins Diamond Glaze.

Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop with Smeared and Smudged!

Howzit Dominoians!
Welcome to the 2nd of my blogs playing in this year's Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop hosted by the fabulous Smeared and Smudged team!  Thanks so much for hopping with us today!

a peek at my entire S.A.D collection
Here's the blog roll to keep you going and if you stopped by here first then start the hop at the beginning on Black Dragon's blog, you do not want to miss all the fangtastic skullie eye candy being shared today!

Here's my 2nd Smeared and Smudged DT project for today - an Amazonian Amulet found in the clutches of a doomed treasure hunter!
Doublecross Domino "Amazonian Amulet"
I used one of Smeared Ink's feathered skull rubber stamps from their Fringe set on this one.
I stamped the wooden Doublecross domino with black Archival Ink, heat set the image and then coloured the design with Sharpie markers in my signature Sharpie Domino Queen technique.  I then added a red and gold tear drop sticker jewel to the feathered head piece.  To complete the necklace I wired wrapped the domino a few times with thin black craft wire with the skull charm attached and added the bail by twisting the wire on one of the passes round.  The skull charm was silver toned so I coloured it with a brown Sharpie to give it a more aged gold tone and then added the brown suede cord necklace to complete the look.

Hop on over to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity to see 3 more of S.A.D projects and one of them is another domino ;0)  Today is also the start of our 1st Skellie-Fest event that runs through to June 18th with a $20 gift certificate to spend at Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!
Don't forget to return after the hop and play to win!

"Autumn's Pencil" Doublecross Domino Bookmarker - Smeared Ink DT

Happy Sunday!
I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend so far!  Today I'm sharing my Smeared Ink DT inspiration project I posted over at our Smudgy Antics challenge blog yesterday!

At the beginning of February I shared my Daily Planner featuring Smeared Ink's Grandmaster chess set digis on the cover and today here's the Doublecross Domino bookmarker I made for my planner!  This time I used the tall and narrow stamp from my Autumn's Pencil rubber stamp set I designed for Smeared Ink.

Before I started stamping I hand screwed the brass eye screws into both ends of the wooden Doublecross domino (a game that's been discontinued for many years now).  Then stamped the image onto the front and sides with Jet Black StazOn ink and heat set before colouring the design with Sharpie markers.  I'd normally apply a varnish or Judikins Diamond Glaze at this point to protect the domino but I did that after I took the photos, the glare from the glaze makes it tricky to get good pix!  I made the jewelry dangle and included a tiny black domino bead to complete my piece, I just love those beads!  I threaded a length of black sheer ribbon through the top loop and adhered it to the back page of my daily planner and it works and looks great too!  Here's a closer look at the details!

Don't forget you've got DominoART's first challenge of the year to enter, #10 Hearts plus it's an Any Game Goes and also come and join us at Smudgy Antics for our always Anything Goes challenges too!

Evie Witchie is peddling her wares outside the cemetery gates today!  She has a fangtastic potion for the absent minded but alas she needs to take some herself because she forgot to include the directions so I'm passing them on for her!  She says...

Too Many And Your Thoughts Will Wither Into Twilight"

I hope you'll take heed of her warning!

Today is Smeared Ink Day!  I used their
Rubber Club stamps

Day 11: Spookty ATC featuring a Doublecross Domino by DominoARTist Val S!

Happy Spooktacular Weekend to you all and welcome back for Day 11 of DominoART's 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest blog hop with Smeared and Smudged!

You probably arrived here from Creepy Glowbugg but if you visited DominoART first and would like to start the hop from the beginning then got to Terra's blog, all the info about the daily Scavenger Hunt prizes can be found there too!  The entire blog roll is over there on the right side bar if you get lost along the way!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful compliments you left me on my Tribute to Poe yesterday :0)

Now for Day 11's project by one of my DTs, DominoARTist Val S, and my Mom :0)

I know you're all enjoying finding out about all the kinds of dominoes so here's some info on today's altered game piece, a Doublecross!  This one is made of light coloured wood and has 3 dot sections instead of 2 and is tall and narrow like a bandaid.  Unforunately it was discontinued many moons ago but they pop up on evilBay occasionally!

Those of you looking for regular standard white dominoes....you want the ones that come in tins and are called Jumbo for some unknown reason coz the BIG ones are called Super-sized, and you can find them in stores like Target, pharmacies and even in the toy section of your grocery stores as well as evilBay.  The ones in wooden boxes are generally the black wooden dominoes and those are fun to alter too!

"Quoth the Raven" Domino Magnet and Smeared Ink DT News!!

Greetings Dominoians!

Welcome to a sunny Monday morning here on my DominoART blog :0)
I'm super excited to announce that I was invited to join the Smeared Ink design team, truly an honour, and today I'm sharing my first project as an official DT member and as inspiration for their current Smudgy Antics challenge - Anything But A Card!

I used Smeared Ink stamps from their exclusive rubber club set 'Quoth The Raven' and it's also available as a digi set too.  The center portion of my magnet is a real wooden domino called a Doublecross which has been discontinued for years now I'm afraid but you might be lucky to find a game at a yard sale so keep those eyes peeled!

Stamp Mr Poe with Jet Black StazOn ink onto the domino and heat set or leave over night to dry.  Dab clear embossing ink onto the left side and apply silver embossing powderUTEE is better coz it's thicker but regular EP will work too, you just need to add another coat or two while the EP is still hot.  Heat the EP with a heat gun, ink up the SI 'Quoth the Raven' text stamp with the clear embossing ink just to protect the stamp and press the stamp into the molten EP or UTEE while its still hot.  Leave it alone for a few seconds to harden and then gently remove the stamp.  Wrap Recollections washi tape with a bird silhouette design (Michaels) around the edges of the domino and trim away the excess.  Stamp the SI raven wings onto heavy weight cardstock and fussy cut out.  Dab clear embossing ink onto the wings and add silver UTEE and then add lots of craft glue to help build up a sturdy joining point.  Adhere the wings to the domino with craft glue and colour over the dried glue with a metallic silver paint pen.  Darken the text with a fine point Sharpie marker and adhere a magnet to the back and you're done.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you over at Smudgy Antics...you can win a $5 gift voucher to Smeared Ink if you take the challenge!  Don't forget about DominoART's current challenge too - Rick St Dennis Easter/Valentine Domino Books!

Challenges entered:

Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween - 'Pumpkin Head' Doublecross-Chekit Monster Ornament by Charlotte F!

Howzit Stampers!

On the 29th Day of Halloween Charlotte F, who is a member of our DominoART Yahoo Group, joins us again to share her spooktacular monster ornament that is part Chekit and part Doublecross Domino.....eeeek!  Run for the Hills!

SUPPLIES
Chekit Game Piece
Doublecross Domino (a wood domino that has been discontinued)
Ancient Page Coal Black ink
Black ribbon
Green wire
Image from Sun Spirit and words from Inca Stamps (Both of whom are out of business)
Green, Blue, Orange and Black Sharpies
Red Distress Stain
Krylon Fixative and Glaze

Charlotte stamped the image and words onto the Doublecross domino with Coal Black Ancient Page dye ink.  She then stamped just the head portion on the Chekit and colored with Sharpie markers.
She stained the back of the Doublecross domino with Red Distress Stain.  Then she hand wrote the number '29' onto the Chekit for the date.  She sprayed both pieces with fixative and then the
glaze and glued the two pieces together with the ribbon sandwiched between to form the hanger.
She finished off by drilling a tiny hole for the twisted wire and glued it in place.

Stay tuned for Day 30 coz Pilar F is back to share another one of her cauldron concoctions!
