Welcome to Day 18 of our
31 Days of Halloween scarefest!

Before we move on to today's Halloween project I'd like to tell you about my upcoming 12 Days of Xmas Festival here on DominoART!  Starting Dec 1st I would like to feature Christmas Altered Game Ornaments created by you!  They do NOT have to be based on the 12 Days of Christmas carol but you can do that theme if you want to!  I will be away for most of December so I'd like to get ALL projects in and scheduled to auto-post by the end of the second week in November otherwise we'll have to skip Christmas this year....eeeeek...NOOOOO!
So who wants to get festive with me?

Unfortunately the Wicked Player that was supposed to be featured today didn't make it so I'm sharing one of my Smeared Ink creations instead coz today is Smeared Ink Day :0)

"Creepy Cute Grumpie"
Square Domino magnet giftie plus Tag by
Leigh S-B aka The Sharpie Domino Queen

I created an altered domino magnet that can either be worn as a brooch or it can be displayed on the fridge and the tag is a great way to present the little giftie.  The magnet I used on the back of the square domino is a metal bar in two parts.  One side is adhered to the back of the domino and the other part has the magnets attached and it goes on the inside of your clothing and attaches just with the magnets.  The pumpkin top and eyebrows of the Grumpie were coloured with Copics and fussy cut out of cardstock and Judikins Diamond Glaze was applied to it as well as the Sharpie coloured pumpkin.  I coloured the whole domino in my signature "Sharpie Domino Queen' technique and stamped the text 'Trick or Treat' on all four sides too.  Click on the collage of photos to see all the details.

click to enlarge so you can see all the details!
Supplies
Square Domino
Smeared Ink Rubber Club exclusive:
Pumpkin Grumpie, Happy Halloween and Trick or Treat text
I used papers from the following 3 sets:
Caught in my Web, Creepy Tree and Honor the Dead
Creepy text is from the Creepy Tree digi paper and reduced in Photoshop CS6.
I also created the word 'Cute' in Photoshop too.
StazOn Ink Jet Black
Tea Dye Distress Ink
Sharpie markers
Copic markers
Neenah Solar White cardstock
Tim Holtz Idea-ology spiderweb paper tape
Judikins Diamond Glaze
Fibers and Trick or Treat ribbon
Assorted buttons with lime green thread

DominoART Challenge #2: Week 2 of Alice Domino Books with Rick St Dennis!

Hello Dominoians!

Happy Friday!  It's week 2 of
 DominoART Challenge #2
Alice in Wonderland Domino Books
generously sponsored by

If you're just joining us for the first time today here's the scoop!  Rick St Dennis is sponsoring us again this month but this time round is even more special because he designed this Alice in Wonderland digi kit especially for DominoART in celebration of our 11th Birthday (more about our bday celebrations soon)!  Rick has provided us with a special discount code, use ALICEspecial13 to get 20% off his new fabulous Alice Domino Book Kit!  Click the pic below to go shopping and don't forget to use coupon code ALICEspecial13!

The challenge is to create Domino Books using Rick's digi Alice Domino Book Kit!  You MUST use real dominoes for the book covers and you can combine other imagery and embellishments too.  Any dominoes will work if you're able to re-size the images accordingly.  If cute really isn't your style then you are welcome to creep them up!  The digi pages include two stories:  Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.  You can make your books double sided or just pick one of the stories to use, it is totally up to you!  This challenge will end April 24 at 7pm PST so you've got plenty of time to enter!

I know some might not like the fact that you have to buy the images this time round, I promise that this won't be the case for my other challenges and I really think that the awesome prize up for grabs makes up for it especially if you're a huge Alice in Wonderland fan!  Also, adding the Alice domino book kit to your digi collection won't be a waste coz you can do plenty with it and aren't limited to just making books...you can alter and edit the images for future use in many of your other projects too!  So I really hope you'll play in this one still!

THE PRIZE!
To celebrate DominoART's Birthday the winner of Challenge #2 will win a complete set of Rick St Dennis' Randi Dandi Alice images!  This set includes Alice, Mad Hatter, March Hare, Red Queen, Tweedle Dee and Dum, Caterpiller, Door Mouse and possibly a few more might make it in by the end of the month!  I do declare...that's one truly fabulous prize!!!!!!

Howzit Bloggers!
It's DMT Challenge time again with a chance to win prizes if you take part in the current technique blog hop over at Blockheads Paper Arts!

May's DMT (DominoART's monthly technique) is called Emboss Resist.  The link takes you to the tutorial created by my Blockhead team mate, Colleen, for doing this technique on paper but as always I like to put the DominoART spin on things and now I challenge you to alter your favourite game tiles using this technique too!  You can enter the Blockheads Challenge with a paper project or a game tile project, that's totally up to you but I would LOVE to see some game art so what do you say...up for it?

So here's my take on the Emboss Resist technique...DominoART style.

The chinese dragon I used is available at Blockheads on their Chinese Princess set or you can get it on its own.  Judikins has the same dragon but Blockheads' one is way bigger, I've got both of course coz this is one of my absolute favourite dragon images ;0)
ppsst...the Chinese Princess set is currently on sale so dash over quick!

Day 14 of 31 Days of Halloween - 'One Spooky Evening' Square Domino Ornament by Leigh S-B

 Happy Day 14 of Halloween!

Today I'm sharing a hanging ornament I made from a Square Domino.  These dominoes are awesome game pieces coz they're double the width of a single standard sized domino.  But unfortunately the manufacturer of the Square doms has discontinued them so I apologize for getting you all excited if this is the first time you're seeing them!!  Booo!  Booo!  Booo to the people who used to make them!

SUPPLIES
Square Domino that you just might be lucky to find some where!
Rubber Stamp by PSX
Ancient Page dye ink pads:  Coal Black
Sharpie markers:  Yellow, Red, Orange, Purple, Brown
Silver Paint Pen
Judikins Diamond Glaze
Black Sharpie
Bat and pumpkin confetti
Black ribbon
Black fiber and cotton
Heat It embossing gun

For this project you're going to need a Square domino straight from the tin but if you can't get your hands on some then try playing with two dominoes glued together!  No surface preparation is needed because you're going to be using my 'Sharpie Domino Queen' Technique for all the colouring!  Stamp the image onto the domino with Coal Black Ancient Page dye ink and heat set.  Use Sharpies to colour in the entire design but use an extra-fine metallic silver paint pen on the moon.  Edge and colour the sides of the domino with a broad point metallic paint pen and seal the surface and the sides with a coat of Judikins Diamond Glaze.  While the glaze is drying cut a length of black fiber and a length of black cotton.  Thread the confetti bats and pumpkins onto the cotton and tie it onto the fiber at about the center mark.  Form a loop on one of the black fiber and tie a knot.  Apply a thin line of Diamond Glaze all around the sides of the domino and wrap the fiber around it.  Secure the other end at the top of the domino at the base of the loop with more glaze and let it dry.  Cut a length of black ribbon and tie a bow around the loop base and this will also help secure the glued end in place.

Want to see more of my 'Sharpie Domino Queen' Technique projects then check out my blog, Leigh S-B Designs too!

Stay tuned for Day 15 to see what Val S has cooked up in her cauldron for you!
