Day 9: "It Breathed!" by Leigh S-B!

Welcome to Day 9 of DominoART's
annual 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest
and blog hop presented by Smeared Ink!

We're now in the second week of our spooktacular blog hop!  If you've been hopping with us from the beginning then you arrived here via Sue and your next stop is Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  If you don't know what the hop is all about and are dying to know then stop by Terra's blog.  The Smeared Ink Blog Hop roll is over there in my right hand side bar if you want to join the fun and start hopping from the beginning!  There's lots of sponsor prizes to be won each and every day!

Smeared Ink is the clawesome sponsor for DominoART 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest's Grand Prize this year!  One of my Wicked Players will win a Smeared Ink digi set of their choice and be crowned DominoART's Queen of Halloween!  You will all get to vote for your favourite projects starting with the Oct 30 post.  The winner will be announced here on DominoART on Monday Nov 2nd so you'll have a few days to get your votes in!

http://www.smearedink.com/#!shop/c199t

Today is Smeared Ink Friday and the featured project is by me. Leigh S-B!
I've got a more adult Halloween treat box for you today coz it's got boobies on it... probably not quite suitable for the little kiddies!

It Breathed!
Featuring Smeared Ink's Hallocutie - Frankie Girl digi!

POP QUIZ TIME!
Who can tell me why I used 2 Ace and 2 Eight Playing Cards for this project?
answer revealed tomorrow ;)

Frankie Stein is very proud of her eyeball collection!
She is one of my fave Monster High dolls and this version of her is 17 inches tall, huge compared to the normal size of 12"!
Treat Box filled to the brim with eyeballs!
Plus it's re-usable as a pen holder for your desk too!
a multi-tasker!
Supplies used
Smeared Ink's Hallocutie - Frankie Girl digi!
Skellie body parts:  Letterbox Backgrounds rubber stamps
Scrabble tiles
1969 Crooked Playing Cards - scanned coz they're vintage!
Silver marblized dice
upcycled lid-less hotel toiletries box from my stash
Real book pages torn from a copy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Bendon Junior Classics) from Target's $ section
 white cardstock
Copics
metallic silver and blue Promarkers
metallic silver gel pen
metallic silver Sharpie
black StazOn ink
Distress Inks: Black Soot, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass
metallic silver-blue eyelash fiber
flattened silver metal staples
Judikins Diamond Glaze
glue dots
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
Xyron permanent adhesive
Tim's paper distresser tool

I used the vintage Crooked Playing Cards coz they look like lightning bolts!  I just couldn't bring myself to use the real playing cards coz they're from 1969 and I only have the one set so I scanned them and some pages from the Frankenstein book.  I used 2 x Ace and 2 x Eight playing cards for my project, can you guess why?  I then Photoshoped the text and the SI Frankie Girl digi onto the playing cards in PS CS6.  Printed out, coloured with Copics, Promarkers and a silver gel pen.  The edges are distressed with Black Soot DI applied.  I added Judikins Diamond Glaze to Frankie's goggle eyes to make them shiny and 3D.
I dismanted the box, covered it inside and out with pages torn from the Frankenstein book.  Treated with Distress Ink Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass and lightning hand drawn with metallic silver and blue Promarkers.  Silver dice for feet.  To further enhance the feel of lightning I wrapped the silver-blue metallic fiber randomly around the box and secured the ends in the join when the box was re-assembled.

The scrabble tiles spell out "FRANKIE" and are stamped with SI's skeleton parts rubber stamp in black StazOn ink and the sides coloured with metallic silver Sharpie.  The playing cards were adhered to the box with glue and the scrabble tiles added with glue dots.  I embellished the cards with flattened real metal staples.
Thank you for the wonderful comments you left for Terra yesterday and for hopping with us again today!

See you again tomorrow for Day 10 and have a faBOOlous weekend!

DominoART Challenge #14 Any Theme + Any Game Goes!

TGIF Dominoians!
Oh My Ghoul, can you believe that it's nearly June already and time for a new DominoART challenge, the months are just flying by!

First up, I received 4 fabulous entries for my #13 RAVENS challenge, thank you everyone for playing!  5+ entries are needed for a sponsored prize but I love all the entries submitted this month and would like to extend the invitation to be a DominoART Guest Designer in the near future to you all :0)  So ALL of YOU are WINNERS this month ;0)

Please Email Me and let me know if you're interested in doing a guest designer project!
You will also receive a Guest Designer Badge to display on your blog when your project is featured!

On to June!
DominoART Challenge #14
"Any Theme"
and is
ANY GAME GOES!
This challenge is wide open!  Make anything you want, altering any kind of game piece(s) with any theme!  What could be easier than that right, so I hope to see lots of fabulous entries ;0)
5+ entries are required to win a DominoART prize!   For 4 entries or less I'm now offering Guest Designer spots to my fave projects and you get a snazzy badge for your blogs!

For today's inspiration I've created an altered domino necklace with a matching gift box made from real Domino Playing Cards and features stamps by Lost Coast Designs!
This is also my finale project for DominoART's 15 Days of Terror Scarefest which you can see HERE!

The Watchful Raven
The mini Raven figurine is from my "Poe" Living Dead Doll
 Lost Coast Designs stamps:

The domino necklace
I used Brilliance metallic Silver from the Mineral tri-colour ink pad and Jet Black Archival Ink on the surface of the domino and heat set before stamping the Raven with black Archival ink and embellished the eye with a Stampendous sticker jewel.  You can't tell in the photos but the pendant has a wonderful metallic shimmer to it.  All 4 sides of the domino are stamped with portions of the Tree Branches background stamp.  I sealed the entire domino with Judikins Diamond Glaze after I took the photos (the glossy glare sometimes makes it hard to get a good photo).  The bail is actually a black dice bead with white dots.  I coloured the dots with black Sharpie and transformed the black dice into a silver one with a metallic silver Sharpie.  The dice bail was adhered to the top of the domino with E6000 glue and narrow black ribbon added to create the necklace.

The Domino Playing Cards gift box - click on the pic to enlarge
I made the matching gift box bottom and lid with two Domino Playing Cards and used Aleene's Box Maker board to score all the folds.  I then stamped them both with portions of the large Tree Branches stamp with black Archival Ink.  Notches were cut to create the flaps and the box parts assembled and adhered with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.  I added a length of the same narrow black ribbon around the sides of the box lid and embellished one end with a bow.  This was such a fun little gift set to make!

Hope you enjoy your visit to DominoART today and I look forward to seeing your challenge entries!

"Chinese Dragon Droppings" Apothecary Bottle
Leigh S-B - The Sharpie Domino Queen
Jinafire my Chinese Dragon is posing with my 12" high Apothecary Bottle
Day 8 is my turn again and I'm sharing an Apothecary Bottle with an altered playing card tag + an altered wooden domino embellie!  Today I'm also featuring a spooktacular new digi image called "Calpernia and Oggie" by Simply Betty Stamps who is a Smeared and Smudged blog hop sponsor!  I also used Rubber Stamp Concepts Chinese Dragon stamp set and added the "Dragon Droppings" label text to the Simply Betty image in Photoshop CS6.

For the tag I used a jumbo playing card cut to a standard shipping tag size with Smeared Ink grey/white digi paper from the Caught In My Web Digi 8.5 x 11 Paper pack (also available in a 12 x 12 pack) adhered to the back.  I manipulated the image and used just the web portion for the back of my playing card tag.  I hand wrote important instructions on how to use the Chinese Dragon Droppings on the back with a black Micron pen.

I rubbed some Instead-A-Glove paste onto my fingers, just like hand lotion, before getting to work on my tag.  I tattered up the edges with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and scratched up the surface with sandpaper and then stained it with Walnut Ink spritzer and rubbed the stain into the scratches with paper towel.  The dragon images were stamped with Jet Black StazOn ink and adged again with sandpaper before applying a combo of Pumice Stone, Tea Dye and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.  My fingers and finger nails were all ink stained and I just washed my hands with soap and water and viola completely clean, no nail scrubbing need..YES!

Now for a little game! I challenge you to decipher my Wiccan Apothecary Bottle tag!  The first reader to comment on this post with the closest correct translation will win a tub of Instead-A-Glove from DominoART's sponsor, Raw Materials Suppliers!  The game will remain open until Oct 14 midnight PST and the winner will be announced on Oct 15 which is my next project day!  Have fun!

For the embellie charm I used a wooden black domino with the embossed design of a Chinese Dragon on the back and drybrushed it with metallic silver and antique gold acrylic paint.  2 silver eye hooks were screwed into the domino and a silver Chinese Dragon charm attached with natural coloured twine.

The Simply Betty image was printed out onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and I used a Spellbinders Mega Oval die as a stencil to cut out the shape which was then tattered with Tim's Paper Distresser tool.  The image was coloured with Copic markers, Derwent Pastel pencils and blended with Dove Blender Pen.  Then aged with a combo of Pumice Stone, Tea Dye and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.  I also stamped one of the dragon images onto the top and bottom edge of the bottle label with Tea Dye DI.  Then matted onto black cardstock with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive and the mat was edged with Platinum Planet Brilliance Ink.  The belly band around the bottle is a Martha Stewart Crafts adhesive spooky branch border.  The tag and domino embellie hang on the bottle from natural twine.  I aged the white bottle stopper with a brown Copic marker then filled the vintage glass milk bottle with large black jelly beans,  I LOVE Aniseed!

See you back here tomorrow for Day 9's clawesome project by Lyneen!
Your next stop on the hop is Jessica!
