His & Hers Gift Set - altered dominoes for Lost Coast Designs DT

Howzit Dominoians!

Our Lost Coast Designs/Carmen's Veranda December challenge, Board Game Pieces, has began over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity!

This challenge is totally up my alley and I had so many ideas I couldn't decide on just one project so I made 3 and created a His and Hers gift set!

A coaster for Him and a bracelet and necklace for Her!

The Coaster
I used Lost Coast Designs Calligraphy Doll in addition to touches of the scrolls from Carmen's Veranda Winged Skeleton

The Bracelet
I used Lost Coast Designs Lynnea from the Mini Flying Ladies stamp set.

The Necklace
I used Lost Coast Designs Art Doll from the Mini Flying Ladies set as well.

Day 29: Eye of Newt Domino Necklace by Kim R!

Welcome to Day 29 of DominoART's
annual 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest
and blog hop presented by Smeared Ink!

EEEEkkkkk!  Only 2 more sleeps 'til Halloween...and now I'm not actually sure if I'm going to go to sleep!  Boy do I have a story to share, skip this next paragraph if you have an aversion to MICE!

I woke up in the early hours yesterday morning to something TICKLING me and discovered a tiny MOUSE was CUDDLING with me IN MY BED!!!!!  It really was very cute and quite tame coz when I sat bolt upright and turned on the light it was still sitting there by my pillow checking me out!  I seriously couldn't believe my eyes!  It never moved when I shot out of bed and it snuggled against my pillow while I stood there pondering my options and when I returned from the bathroom with a container it had followed me and was sitting at the bottom of the bed studying me quite happily.  It then hopped and scampered around my bed a bit while I tried to catch it but I prevailed!  Hubby was away....so there's me holding a trapped mouse wondering what to do with it...I then went outside in my pjs and bare feet and walked about 20 yards up the road in the dark and let mousie go in the bushes with a stern warning not to return.  If he does I'm keeping him coz he was so darn cute and I shall name him Crumpet!

Now for my Day 31 creation!

Perfectly fitting for today's finale is my 'Clockwork Queen of Halloween' altered Doublecross domino necklace!

The image is called Halloween Queen VB-299-P by Third Coast Rubber Stamps.

I used a wooden Doublecross domino for this pendant and drilled a hole in the top edge so I could screw in a tiny brass eye-screw.  Sorry guys, this game has been discontinued for many years now but keep your eyes peeled at garage sales coz you just never know!  The image was stamped with Jet Black StazOn ink and coloured with a combination of Sharpie markers and Adirondack Alcohol pens:  Black, Burgundy and Pink Lemonade Sharpies, Rust, Slate, Butterscotch and Stream Alcohol pens.  Metallic copper, silver and gold details were added to the image with Letraset markers.

The domino was edged with a metallic copper paint pen and all 4 sides of the domino were pounced onto a Brilliance Mineral tri-colour ink pad.  I deliberately allowed the imperfections in the wood game piece to show through, which you can see in the photo below.  The top of the dagger looked like a heart so I added a jeweled heart sticker and then sealed the entire piece with Judikins Diamond Glaze.  She'd totally work for an Alice in Wonderland themed project don't you think!  While the glaze was still wet I adhered the large silver clockwork key (Bead Landing, Found Objects Charms) to the bottom of the domino.

I completed the project with various charms (Bead Landing, Found Objects) added to chain which I attached to the clockwork key holes.  I screwed in the tiny eye screw and threaded a chain through it and also embellished the top with a brass cog gear from SkyBluePink.  The cog gear on the charm chains is also from SkyBluePink too.

Stay tuned for my post tomorrow announcing the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of
31 Days of Halloween 2012
and don't forget you can now sign up for DominoART's 24 Days of Christmas Festival which starts Dec 1!

Happy Trick or Treating!  Beware all that goes bump in the night ;0)
