DominoART Challenge #14 Any Theme + Any Game Goes!

TGIF Dominoians!
Oh My Ghoul, can you believe that it's nearly June already and time for a new DominoART challenge, the months are just flying by!

First up, I received 4 fabulous entries for my #13 RAVENS challenge, thank you everyone for playing!  5+ entries are needed for a sponsored prize but I love all the entries submitted this month and would like to extend the invitation to be a DominoART Guest Designer in the near future to you all :0)  So ALL of YOU are WINNERS this month ;0)

Please Email Me and let me know if you're interested in doing a guest designer project!
You will also receive a Guest Designer Badge to display on your blog when your project is featured!

On to June!
DominoART Challenge #14
"Any Theme"
and is
ANY GAME GOES!
This challenge is wide open!  Make anything you want, altering any kind of game piece(s) with any theme!  What could be easier than that right, so I hope to see lots of fabulous entries ;0)
5+ entries are required to win a DominoART prize!   For 4 entries or less I'm now offering Guest Designer spots to my fave projects and you get a snazzy badge for your blogs!

For today's inspiration I've created an altered domino necklace with a matching gift box made from real Domino Playing Cards and features stamps by Lost Coast Designs!
This is also my finale project for DominoART's 15 Days of Terror Scarefest which you can see HERE!

The Watchful Raven
The mini Raven figurine is from my "Poe" Living Dead Doll
 Lost Coast Designs stamps:

The domino necklace
I used Brilliance metallic Silver from the Mineral tri-colour ink pad and Jet Black Archival Ink on the surface of the domino and heat set before stamping the Raven with black Archival ink and embellished the eye with a Stampendous sticker jewel.  You can't tell in the photos but the pendant has a wonderful metallic shimmer to it.  All 4 sides of the domino are stamped with portions of the Tree Branches background stamp.  I sealed the entire domino with Judikins Diamond Glaze after I took the photos (the glossy glare sometimes makes it hard to get a good photo).  The bail is actually a black dice bead with white dots.  I coloured the dots with black Sharpie and transformed the black dice into a silver one with a metallic silver Sharpie.  The dice bail was adhered to the top of the domino with E6000 glue and narrow black ribbon added to create the necklace.

The Domino Playing Cards gift box - click on the pic to enlarge
I made the matching gift box bottom and lid with two Domino Playing Cards and used Aleene's Box Maker board to score all the folds.  I then stamped them both with portions of the large Tree Branches stamp with black Archival Ink.  Notches were cut to create the flaps and the box parts assembled and adhered with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.  I added a length of the same narrow black ribbon around the sides of the box lid and embellished one end with a bow.  This was such a fun little gift set to make!

Hope you enjoy your visit to DominoART today and I look forward to seeing your challenge entries!

"Tempus Fugit" Just Steampunk Vol 3 & Week 3 of DominoART Challenge 10!

TGIF Dominoians!
Today I'm sharing an altered game art necklace that was published in Just Steampunk Vol 3 featuring Lost Coast Designs Steampunk stamp called "Time Flies"!
But first a quick reminder that we're now entering week 3 of DominoART's Challenge #10 Hearts plus Any Game Goes!  I look forward to seeing your altered game art created with any game you want with a Hearts theme ;0)

I stamped portions of the Time Flies image onto a small domino and a Chekit game piece with Jet Black StazOn ink then heat set and coloured with Sharpies in my signature "Sharpie Domino Queen" technique.  Metallic gold detailing was added to both game pieces with a DecoColor fine point paint pen and also edged and colored the sides with a broad point paint pen.  Then Judikins Diamond Glaze was applied to the surface and sides of both game pieces.

I stamped the same image again with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored just the wings and legs with Copic markers and added gold to the buckles on the shoes with a metallic gold Promarker.  I fussy cut out the image and removed the legs from the body then colored the backs of the pieces black with a Copic marker.  I punched 1/16" holes with a hole punch at the top of the legs and the base of the body before applying Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint to the legs and the 'wings'.  Once the crackle paint was dry I applied Black Soot Distress Ink to enhance the cracks and buffed off the excess with a piece of paper towel.

I then adhered both game pieces to the body with Judikins Diamond Glaze making sure to add some on the sides where the two game pieces touch at the 'neck' of the doll.  Once secure I adhered a Tim Holtz Idea-ology metal gear over the face of the doll, a flattened antique gold screw head eyelet and antique gold and copper Tim Holtz Idea-ology clock hands to the game pieces with more JD Glaze.

The largest Sizzix Alterations Gadget Gear was die cut out from a sheet of Grungeboard board and I applied tarnished brass Metallic Distress Stain to both sides and sealed with a coat of Delta Ceramcoat matte varnish.  I punched a 1/16" hole into one of the spokes  and adhered the game art doll to the gear with JD Glaze.  Once dry I attached the legs to the body with brass jump rings and attached an antique gold chain with a lobster claw clasp to the gear with a larger jump ring and  embellished with a brass gear from SkyBluePink.com.

Welcome to Day 15 of

Boo! It's the finale of our spooktacular Half-O-Ween in May festival!  May sure flew by and all my Petrifying Players really outdid themselves with absolutely spooktacular projects!  A big THANK YOU to you all for making this year's festival a huge success!  Now you can all look forward to our annual 31 Days of Halloween blog hop with the Smeared and Smudged forum in October ;0)

Voting opened on Tuesday but unfortunately there's no inlinkz collection for you to vote on coz they've disabled thumbnails and text links can't be voted on either on free accounts, I'm not impressed :0(  Blogger is also being a pain and their Poll gadget isn't working for me, ugh!  So to vote I'd appreciate it if you'd all please email me with your top 3 faves in order of preference.  I know that's a huge inconvenience so I plan to do a random drawing to determine the winners if I don't get enough votes.  You have until June 3 at midnight to vote coz I'm having surgery on May 30th and I will announce the winners during the first week of June!
I've got one more project to share, my finale creation featuring Smeared Ink's Rubber Club stamp set "Killer Bo Peep".  Scroll down for my project but first another big THANK YOU to our sponosrs!

Now lets get the freak show on the road!  Here is Day 1's project by me for your freakish enjoyment ;0)

Gothic Sugar Skulls Jewelry by Leigh S-B
I altered 2 small travel sized ivory coloured dominoes for the earrings and used one of LCD's Six Mini Skull stamps...these little guys are the perfect size for altered game art!
For the necklace I altered a Rummicub tile and stamped a portion of LCD's Picado Skull stamp.

All 3 game pieces were stained first with Brilliance Rocket Red ink and the images stamped with black Archival Ink.  I stained and stamped the sides too and stamped sections of the floral part of the Picado Skull image.  I used a black Sharpie marker to edge all of the game pieces edges including all the corners.  I sealed all the pieces with a couple of coats of Krylon Artist's Workable Fixative spray and then applied Judikins Diamond Glaze to all the surfaces leaving the black eye and nose sockets to create wicked dimension.

I used pre-drilled dominoes for the earrings from Tall Mouse and attached the skull charms and earring findings with wire.  The Rummy tile is too thin to drill through so I glued the wire to the back of the piece with E6000 glue.  The pendant is hung on a really cool rubbery black cord with a built in closure!

See you again for Day 2's project by DominoARTist Val S on May 3rd!
