DominoART Challenge #4: Week 4 of Any Game Goes!

Welcome to Week 4 of
DominoART Challenge #4 - Any Game Goes
Any Game and Any Theme!
Sponsored by Blockheads Paper Arts!

For Challenge #4 you have complete freedom to pull out all the stops and do whatever you want!  Alter any game and use whatever imagery you want.  You MUST use a real game piece of some kind in your creations for example:  jigsaw puzzles, dominoes, dice, playing cards, checkers, chess pieces, Monopoly money, Bingo cards, etc!  If its a game then you can alter it!

Oops, I made a mistake with the end date for this challenge...it will close June 19 instead of the 26th!

THE PRIZE!
Blockheads Paper Arts is giving you a choice of any of their QUARTER Sheet Rubber Stamps sets!  A fabulous prize indeed!

I don't have a new project to share with you for this last week of challenge #4 because my precious kitty, Cassi, passed away on Saturday June 8 :0( She was my baby and I'm heart broken and miss her with every fiber of my being :0( So I'm sharing one of my past domino creations instead.

This is my Ancient Stone technique for dominoes!
I developed this faux finish for dominoes back in 2003 on my DominoART Yahoo Group while I was experimenting with ways to create a faux Scrimshaw technique for dominoes.  It's probably fair to say it's a semi-faux technique coz it does involve clay ;0)  It looks like it could be a hard one but it actually isn't and the worst part is waiting for it to dry so you might want to make a lot in one sitting for semi-instant gratification!  For more info you can see my original post on my Leigh S-B Designs blog!

Raven collage rubber stamp from the Quoth the Raven set by Smeared Ink
cream 15/16 inch x 1.75 inch Spinner domino
super-sized 1.5 x 2.5 inch white domino
white DAS Air Dry Clay
Ancient Page dye ink:  Coal Black, Chocolate and Sienna
Dremel or a Drill
Heat gun
brown suede cord
white craft glue
paper towel
toothpick
Krylon matte spray sealer or Artist's Workable Fixative
sunlight and patience ;0)

DominoART Challenge #4: Week 3 of Any Game Goes!

    Welcome to Week 3 of
DominoART Challenge #4 - Any Game Goes

    THE PRIZE!
Blockheads Paper Arts is giving you a choice of any of their QUARTER Sheet Rubber Stamps sets!  A fabulous prize indeed!

My DominoARTists have made some fabulous creations for your inspiration so far, check out week 1 and week 2 if you missed them, and now it's my turn!  Today I'm sharing an Edgar Allan Poe themed box I made just with playing cards and dice for feet :0)  This one is also my Smeared Ink design team creation for Smudgy Antics Texture challenge...week 2 starts on Monday so you've got time to enter there too ;0)

The playing cards I used have a gorgeous zebra pattern on the back of them and made the interior of my box look awesome too!  I used Smeared Ink's Urban Decay rubber stamps to stamp the textured backgrounds onto the playing cards with Royal Purple StazOn ink.  I then randomly applied clear embossing ink and silver embossing powder to the right hand sides of the playing cards.  After heating the EP I added another coat of EP to make the layer thicker and stamped images from Smeared Inks Quoth the Raven rubber set into the EP while it was still molten to achieve the wonderful debossed effect.  I pre-inked each image with Coal Black Ancient Page ink to make the debossed images pop and it also helps to act as release for the rubber.   I used 5 Spade playing cards, 4 for the walls and 1 each for the base and the lid.  The feet are silver metallic marble dice.

The base is stamped with the words "Confined Space" and the lid says "Open".  I also made faux screw heads from some grungeboard circles and one of the screw head stamps.  All of these are on included on the Urban Decay rubber sheet.  To give the screw heads a bit of dimension I applied Inkssenstials Matte Accents on either side of the black grooves which helps to make them look real.

Now it's your turn!  I can't WAIT to see your entries!!!

We're celebrating by featuring handmade projects that spotlight the much-loved cranium and Smeared Ink is giving away lots of freebies during the hop too so if you're just starting your hop or working your way down the list then the blog roll is below to help you on your way!

Here's my second creation of the day and the final piece in my matching ensemble :0)
