Hello Dominoians!
I'm in love with the new elements fairies by Third Coast Rubber Stamps and today I'm sharing a necklace I designed featuring a DominoART pendant decorated with a portion of the gorgeous Earth Fairy LS-001-U.
I'm in love with the new elements fairies by Third Coast Rubber Stamps and today I'm sharing a necklace I designed featuring a DominoART pendant decorated with a portion of the gorgeous Earth Fairy LS-001-U.
To make the domino into a pendant I first drilled a hole through the top section from side to side with a Dremel. Ink up the stamp with Jet Black StazOn ink and take the domino to the stamp so you've got more control over placement and it also helps prevent smudging the image. Heat set the ink with a Heat It tool for a few seconds or longer. Heat set with the light bouncing off the domino in such a way that you can see when the ink turns matte! Be careful, the domino will get very hot!
I coloured the image using my signature 'Sharpie Domino Queen' technique with Sharpie markers in the following colours:
Skin: Almond and Pink Lemonade
Hair: Dandelion, Marigold and Brown
Clothes: Lime Daiquiri, Lime and Clover
Background: Yellow and Mocha
Metallic accents: Copper and Green metallic Promarkers

It's also fun to decorate the back of the domino too. I stamped the fairy's wings on mine and coloured the entire surface with a combination of Lime and Clover. Then colour the sides of the domino with a combination of Yellow and Mocha. Spray the entire domino with a couple of light mistings of Krylon Artist's Workable Fixative then apply Judikins Diamond Glaze for a glass-like finish. Adhere the tiny Swarovski crystal to the center of the flower on her head while the glaze is still wet or you can glue it on after with a small dab of glaze once the glaze has hardened.
I hope I've inspired you to get out those dominoes and make your own awesome pendants! You're going to want to stop by the Third Coast Creative Challenge Blog on Friday August 17 too coz that's when the TCCC#3: Altered Dominoes challenge starts!! So come and play with us ;0)
