Romancing the DominoART Day 5: Heated Pearls Domino Love Necklace by Leigh S-B!
Welcome to Day 5 of
Romancing the DominoART!
Today I'm sharing a domino pendant I made using the Heated Pearls technique and I'm dedicating this project in the loving memory of my Daddy whom I miss so very much!
I just want to remind everyone that my Design Team call is still open! DominoART challenges launch March 1st and I'm looking for stampers who are eager to create altered game art and have it featured here on DominoART! Check out the DT page for more info!
Heated Pearls is a fun paper arts technique that translates easily to dominoes! This is the perfect technique to try on your stash of dominoes that got messed up in some way or other! I recycled a white domino and started off by colouring the sides with a black oil based Sharpie paint pen. Now for the fun part...apply a generous amount of white craft glue to the surface of the domino with a toothpick or your finger and spread it around making sure to cover up anything you want to hide.
Sprinkle Perfect Pearls or Pearl Ex powder randomly onto the glue. You can have fun experimenting with different colour combinations and the amount of glue and powder you use. For my domino I used Perfect Pearls Perfect Pearl (white), Perfect Copper and Due Red-Blue Pearl Ex with a generous dollop of glue. Mix the powder into the glue with a brush or your finger and apply a lot of heat to the glue mix with a heat gun. As the glue heats up it will bubble and ooze and you can stop applying the heat once all the powder has melted into the glue and you're happy with the result. Let everything cool down for a few minutes coz the domino and the glue do get quite hot then you can dab the surface and squish the glue down in places if you need to and then put aside to allow it to completely cool and harden. The result is this wonderful crumpled up looking surface that's so textural and pretty. I think I shall call this domino technique 'Textured Pearls'.
I embellished my domino with some Making Memories metal alphabet charms and a stamped Smeared Ink Winged Heart from their Smeared Ink Rubber Club which I coloured with Copics, fussy cut out and coated with Judikins Diamond Glaze. Everything was adhered to the domino with the Diamond Glaze too. I adhered a pin-bail combo to the back of the domino with E6000 glue and hung the pendant on a silver ball chain.
This project will be up on the Smudgy Antics blog as their guest designer on Monday Feb 25 for their new challenge! Pop over and join the fun ;0)
Have a great weekend everyone and see you back here on Sunday for another Romancing the DominoART project!

"Bee My Honey" DominoART Tag
Featuring Blockheads Paper Arts' ATC Honey Bees and Nature Medallions
Make a tag out of black cardstock and tatter the edges with Tim's Paper Distresser tool. Stamp the honeycomb with Perfect Pearls Medium and dust on Perfect Gold powder for a luscious metallic background. Spritz the tag with a fine mist of water to set the PP powder. Apply Tarnished Brass Metallic Distress Stain to the distressed edges. Emboss a piece of red cardstock with Craftwell's 8.5 x 11" Regency embossing folder (my new favourite coz I love the versatility of the large format) which I ran through my eBosser machine (available at Crafter's Companion). Tatter the edges and dab Tarnished Brass DStain onto a craft sheet and apply the stain to the embossed design and the edges with a piece of paper towel for a vintage distressed effect (see photo below). Adhere the black tag to the red cardstock with craft glue and use a Perfect Layers tool to cut the 1/8" border. For more info on all the Perfect Paper Crafting tools pop on over to my ambassador page and don't forget to use my special coupon code Leigh5% to get 5% off your entire order! Punch a 3/16" hole in the top of the tag and attach a red flower eyelet with a Crop-A-Dile. Apply Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink (Spring Limited Edition) to a scrap piece of heavy weight white cardstock with paper towel and stamp the text with Red Magic VersaMagic. Cut out the text and adhere them to scrap pieces of red cardstock and trim. Stamp the small bee onto another scrap piece of white cardstock with Cantaloupe Memento Ink and add the black detail by hand with a Micon Pen. Fussy cut out and apply Judikins Diamond Glaze and put aside to dry. Now for the game pieces...
Stamp the honeycomb design onto 4 hexagonal Lexigo game pieces with Jet Black StazOn ink and heat set. Colour the pieces with Sharpies: Dandelion, Marigold, Brown, Red and Black, using my favourite technique...my 'Sharpie Domino Queen' technique of course ;0) Apply Judikins Diamond Glaze to the surfaces and put aside to dry. Apply Inkssentials Matte Accents to the large bee on the tag and add a tiny red bow while it's still wet. Adhere the game pieces to the tag with Judikins Diamond Glaze...I like the way the pieces look like half a daisy and mirrors the shape of the flower eyelet ;0) Adhere the text pieces to the tag with KoolTak dimensional transparent foam tape, the small bee to the game pieces with a drop of Diamond Glaze, attach some decorative ribbon and you're done...well nearly...write your message on a piece of coordinating cardstock and adhere it to the back of the tag...now you're done!
I hope you enjoyed Day 1 of Romancing the DominoART and will consider emailing me your altered game art so I can share the love with everyone! Stop by again on Saturday for Day 2!
I've entered my creation in the following challenges:
Tuesday Alchemy #50 - My Hearts All A Flutter

Romancing the DominoART starts Feb 14th! Need players!
Hello Dominoians!
It's time for our Romancing the DominoART event!
Initially this was planned to start Feb 1st but unfortunately I've had sporadic internet access and then nothing at all for over two weeks, urgh! But the issue has been sorted out and I'm eager to get things going...finally :0)
So I'm now putting the call out for Romantic Players who are willing to put their hearts on their altered game pieces ;0) The plan is to feature 14 days of Romantic altered game art but because its now such short notice we'll see what happens. Even if we just have a week or a few days of LOVE I'll be happy!
I will be awarding a DominoART Treat and a snazzy winners blog badge to my favourite altered game piece :0)
I've already received some creations...THANK YOU SO MUCH, you will be hearing from me in the next few days to let you know I did get them eventually!!!
Everyone is welcome to play regardless of your level of stamping or domino altering experience. So who wants to play in our annual Romancing the DominoART event?
