Week 4 of D'ART Challenge #12 "Dominoes to DYE for"

TGIF Dominoians!
We're now heading into the fourth week of

 DominoART Challenge #12
"Dominoes to Dye for"

I challenge you to DYE your dominoes using only the Egg Dye kits sold for colouring eggs!  So dash on out to your grocery store and grab a few different kinds before they're gone for another year!  Click HERE to enter Challenge #12!  5+ entries required to win a prize!  For 5 entries or less I'm now offering Guest Designer spots to the creators of my fave projects!

Last week I showed you the dominoes I altered using a metallics egg dye kit and today I'm sharing some "Alien Landscape" dominoes I made using 2 of my faves from those dominoes. I loved those 2 from the middle, they reminded me of deep space photos of magical celestial-scapes. So I used those 2 and added the stamped Lost Coast Designs columns from the ATC Misc. 7 Set. The columns were stamped on Neenah cardstock and coloured in shades of Cool Grey Copics, fussy cut out and just the bases adhered to the dominoes so that the columns stood away from the domino surfaces to add some quirky dimension.  I completed the celestial sky with self-adhesive silver starts.

Sadly there's been no entries yet, I'm surprised coz this challenge was a fan favourite in my DominoART Yahoo group over the years.  Hopefully you're still working on your projects though and I'll see some fab ones this week ;0)  There's still plenty of time to enter, the challenge closes on the 29th at noon PST!  I saw some kits in the Easter clearances at 90% off at Walmart the other day so hurry and grab some while you can! There's no right or wrong way to dye dominoes so just have fun and play around with the kits and see what results you get.
I'm DYE-ing to see your challenge entries ;0)

Week 3 of D'ART Challenge #12 - "Dominoes to Dye For"

TGIF Dominoians!
We're now heading into week 3 of

 DominoART Challenge #12
"Dominoes to Dye for"

I challenge you to DYE your dominoes using only the Egg Dye kits sold for colouring eggs!  So dash on out to your grocery store and grab a few different kinds before they're gone for another year!  Click HERE to enter Challenge #12!  5+ entries required to win a prize!  For 5 entries or less I'm now offering Guest Designer spots to the stamper of my fave projects!

For your week 3 inspiration I've been playing with metallics!
This egg dye kit consisted of a gold opaque glaze and some semi-transparent colours.  I used a combination of new dominoes straight out the box as well as some old ones from my stash of doms set aside for re-use.  The opaque metallic glaze covers up any previously stamped images nicely and gives them new life!  I had loads of fun mixing and creating patterns.  The above photo shows some of the variations I made.  Hopefully you can still find some kits in the Easter clearances and remember, there's no right or wrong way to dye dominoes so just have fun and play around with the kits and see what results you get.

I'm DYE-ing to see your challenge entries ;0)

Week 2 of D'ART Challenge #12 - "Bunny Blue domino magnet" Presentation Card

Happy Easter weekend to you all!
We're already heading into week 2 of

 DominoART Challenge #12
"Dominoes to Dye for"

I challenge you to DYE your dominoes using only the Egg Dye kits sold for colouring eggs!  So dash on out to your grocery store and grab a few different kinds before they're gone for another year!  Click HERE to enter Challenge #12!

Smeared Ink Occasions Li'l Grumpie rubber stamp
On Wednesday I shared Bunny Blue the fridge magnet I made using one of the dyed dominoes. Today I'm sharing the Easter card I made for my sister featuring Bunny Blue.  This card is a cute and clever way to present a magnet project.

I cut a hole into the embossed panel the same size as the magnet on the back of the domino and attached the panel to the front of a folded card with pop dots.  The magnet slots into the hole and can be easily removed later.  The domino is quite heavy though so to prevent the card from falling forward when open I cut the bottom edge of the back of the card at an angle to create an easel type card.  The card now slants backwards when on display!

I used Peacock Pearlescent Brilliance ink to highlight the embossed design on the front of the card and also to stamp the sentiment (Michaels brand) on the inside.  To finish off the card I added the cream sheer ribbon and bow and 4 topaz self adhesive jewels attached to each corner.

I hope you'll grab some of the eggy dye kits and come play with us!
I'm DYE-ing to see your challenge entries ;0)

"Bunny Blue" domino maget is to DYE for!

Happy April 1st to you all!
Today is the start of the new challenge over at Altered Eclectics and Bunny Blue is one of my DT shares for today!  Altered Eclectic challenges start on the 1st of every month and are always Anything Goes but your projects must fit into the following criteria: Altered Art, Mixed Media projects, Upcycled, etc!  NO standard paper projects like cards, ATCs and tags are allowed!

Isn't Bunny Blue the cutest altered domino you ever did see!? ;0)

You saw his beginnings on Friday March 27 when my new DominoART Challenge #12 "Dominoes to Dye for" started!  We're playing with Easter Egg dye kits this month so click that link above to check it all out!  Continue reading below the long collaged photo for more info on Bunny Blue!

For Bunny Blue's body I actually used the domino that looks more green on the left bottom row
and I also preferred it the other way round to the pic below too.  I used Smeared Ink's Li'l Bunny Grumpie from the Occasions Li'l Grumpie rubber stamp set.
The bunny was stamped with jet black StazOn ink onto the domino after I had sealed the surface with a few light sprays of Krylon Artist's Workable Fixative.  I stamped him again on heavy weight cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink, coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut out the big paws and the ears with the eyebrows attached.  The parts were adhered to the domino with small dabs of Judikins Diamond glaze.  I added white paint to his eye highlights with a toothpick and once dry I applied Vive Pearl Transparent Magic White dimensional paint to his eyes and for even more Easter Egg sparkly fun I added Crystal Stickles glitter glue to his ears, eyebrows, paws and a little dab on his little belly button.  I added the round magnet to the back so he can liven up a fridge with his super cuteness!

But I didn't stop there!  Stop by on Friday to see what else I did with Bunny Blue for my week 2 post of the  "Dominoes to Dye for" challenge ;0)
