Greetings Bloggers!
Welcome to Day 9 of 31 Days of Halloween!
I hope everyone is having a spooktacular time feasting greedy eyes on all the DominoART eye candy and finding the Smeared and Smudged Scavenger Hunt pics on all the participating Wicked Blogs! So just an evil reminder to keep your third eye peeled for the day DominoART hides the Smeared and Smudged Scavenger Hunt pic and you just never know when I'll be hiding a DominoART Treat too!!!
Barb B joins us today to share her menacing Poe inspired altered domino earrings!
Barb is on the Blockheads Design Team with me and I'm so glad that she totally allowed me to twist her arm into doing today's project even though she's never altered a domino before!
Aren't these Quoth the Raven earrings just to die for!! Fabulous :0)
This is what Barb has to say about her project and you can read her full post on her blog too!
I decided to start (altering dominoes) with earrings. I made these using plain wooden dominoes. First I dabbed some Rusty Brown StazOn ink onto the wood. Then I stamped the ravens onto some thin orange-y colored paper using Jet Black StazOn ink. I colored in the beak and put just a touch of gold into the eyes with a metallic gold pen.
Next I glued the paper onto the prepared domino. To give it a more distressed look, I went over the entire surface (except for the ends where the holes are drilled) with Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.
Once the paint dried I attached a bead to some gold wire, then thread the wire through the domino. I reversed the process and thread it back through the other hole in the domino. I attached another bead to the other end of the wire, and pulled it up snug so that no wire ends were sticking out. I gave the loop end of the wire a single twist, then attached the earring bit.
That's all there was to it! Apart from drying time for the paint - which I left alone and was dry by the time I came back from dinner - the whole project took me about 20 minutes from start to finish. And now I have some cool, very inexpensive Halloween earrings to wear!
