Welcome to Day 6 of DominoART's 31 Days of Halloween!
It's my turn to share a project again today and this one is from the lighter side of Halloween and sugary cute to boot!
This project is performing triple duty coz its my Coterie sample art for the Non-Traditional Halloween Colour Challenge I'm hosting over on the Third Coast Creative Challenge Blog which ends on Oct 10 so there's still plenty of time to enter!
Its also my Third Coast Creative Coterie design team project being featured today on the Coterie Blog as part of the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog hop! Phew, talk about squishing 3 cockroaches with one stone ;0)
Of course the star of the freak show is the adorable Halloween Kitty DT-357-L by Third Coast Rubber Stamps. It's only a portion of the image and you can just see the pumpkin peeking in there at the bottom. The image was stamped onto the super-sized white domino with Jet Black StazOn ink. After heat setting I coloured the image with non-traditional Halloween colours which is the challenge I gave everyone on the Third Coast Creative Challenge blog AND I added a twist too. Everyone is banned from using purple, lime green and orange. Black is okay but it can't be a dominant colour!
So I coloured my Halloween Kitty with the following Sharpie markers in my signature 'Sharpie Domino Queen' technique: Fur: Slate Grey and Brown, Hat: Pomegranate, Ocean Blue and Yellow, Cloak: Rose, Pumpkin: Yellow, Marigold and Brown, Background: Turquoise and Surf, Eyes: Ocean Blue with metallic silver highlights. I added yellow Stickles glitter glue to the stars on the hat and cloak for some magical sparkle. Once dry I applied a coat of Judikins Diamond Glaze to seal the surface and wrapped the edges with a decorative self-adhesive ribbon from Joann's Arts and Crafts.
I found this really cute jumbo wooden peg at Michaels that was just the right colour and size and jazzed it up a bit by embellishing it with the same decorative ribbon at the top on both sides. Then adhered the altered domino to it with E6000 glue.
It makes the perfect little Halloween gift and can hold a photo or your mail or whatever you feel like really!
See you tomorrow for Day 7 of 31 Days of Halloween and don't forget to visit all the blogs in the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog hop for the chance to win lots of SAS prizes!! See Terra's blog if you're late to the freak show!
Happy Haunting and Domino Hugs!

ReplyDeleteJust wonderful, love it!
ReplyDeleteI just really love that stamp!!!! Love your idea, of putting a domino on one of those Big Clips! I went to Micheal's store yesterday and I went looking for some dominoes,(couldn't find them.) not that I would really know what to do w/ them or any thing? LOL! Love your project!
ReplyDeletePeace,
Kristy
Wonderful challenge. The image was stamped so nicely and colored beautifully. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully Halloweeny considering you followed the challenge rules and didn't use those colors. How big IS a super size domino? Like the boxful of heavy ones from Target or even bigger?
ReplyDeleteGreat job, really awesome creation.

Julia

Cute clothespin. LOVE the kitty domino!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job using non-traditional Halloween colors and fabulous coloring of the domino! How the heck does your sharpie ink look so smooth? How does the Staz-on NOT get wiped away by the markers? I'd love to be able to color dominoes like you!
