Now for my Day 17 creation!
Only 13 more scary sleepless nights in anticipation of the arrival of the spookiest night in October! The streets will be over flowing with yummy candy....you know you love it....say that last part with a sing-song voice LOL!
Well, apparently cats love candy too and I've got an altered super-sized domino pendant to prove it ;0)
Check out my Cat Candy Stalker pendant featuring a 2 stamp set by Third Coast Rubber Stamps called Scary Hairy Girl and Cat VB-321-P.
I absolutely adore this set and couldn't resist stamping the kitty's face with those huge eyes multiple times all over the domino including the sides to tell the tale that Scary Hairy Girl has the creepiest of feelings that she's been stalked during her trick-or-treating!
First off, some of you have asked how large a super-sized domino actually is and they are 1.5 x 2.5 inches and not to be confused with the tins that say Jumbo on them! Jumbo are standard sized at 1 x 2 inches. I love working with super-sized doms coz you can obviously get more of the stamp image on them ;0)
The images were stamped onto the super-sized white domino with Jet Black StazOn ink and heat set. Then I stamped portions of the kitty onto just the two long sides of the domino in the same manner. I'm sure you can tell by now that I used my signature 'Sharpie Domino Queen' technique and coloured the entire image with the following Sharpie markers:
Cat's eyes: Lime and Kiwi, Pumpkin and the girl's arms: Leg Warmer Orange and Banana Clip Yellow, Panel on her clothes and Cat ears: Jellie Pink, Her eyes and rest of her clothes: Purple, Violet and lilac, Skin: Almond, Cat fur: Slate Grey and Earl Grey, Girl's Hair: Brown.
To seal the design I applied a coat of Judikins Diamond Glaze to the surface and sides. Once dry I embellished the pendant with various sizes of clear self-adhesive rhinestones, two tiny ones on the front of the girl's dress and three on the top and bottom of the domino.
To make my altered domino into a pendant I adhered a sterling silver bail to the back with GS-Hypo cement and threaded it onto a purple velvet cord with a sterling silver lobster claw and jump ring to finish the necklace.
See you tomorrow for Day 18 of 31 Days of Halloween and don't forget to visit all the blogs in the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog hop for the chance to win lots of SAS prizes!! See Terra's blog if you're late to the freak show!
Happy Haunting and Domino Hugs!

THE SHARPIE DOMINO QUEEN

ReplyDeleteway that it coveres the sides of domino.
FABULOUS necklace!! I LOVE the image(especially the kitty cats )
ReplyDeleteLove the domino images and colours!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love this domino pendant and appreciate all of the information you've shared. Do you have a source that you are willing to share for the Super sized dominos and/or the white tiled Chekits? I ordered some of the latter on Ebay after asking the vendor to make sure the tiles were white and of course when they got here they were black and not particularly flat. I have a few old white tiles but can't find the game to buy!!
ReplyDeleteGreat offering. I love the over-sized dominoes that I have never seen anywhere. Where do you find them? Thank you for sharing your talents with me.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is amazing! I so would love to start playing with dominoes. Particularly love how you've stamped the sides as well and your coloring ROCKS! xxD
ReplyDeleteEeee! That's my happy sound! I love this!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun, cheerful piece! I adore the images you've used...especially all the cats' eyes! I would wear your pendant with pride. Your colouring is beyond amazing and I wish I knew your technique in getting such a smooth blend with the markers. Perhaps you can whisper your secrets into my ear? Fabulous pendant!
